Another FiRE Award for Crested Capital
Crested Capital is in the familiar position of being awarded the winner in the category of “Brokerage Organisations” for Outstanding Achievement in Financial Reporting, at the 7th Edition of Financial Reporting Awards (FiRe Awards) hosted by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) on 9 November, 2017 at the Kampala Serena Hotel. The FiRe Awards is an annual event whose aim is to promote best practices in financial reporting in Uganda.

The theme for this year’s FiRe Awards was; “Moving Beyond the Numbers: Unlocking Value through Reporting” and it was at this edition that Crested Capital won an award for the second time since the creation of the Brokerage Organizations Category of which Crested Capital were the pioneer winners.

The President of the Institute of CPA Uganda (ICPAU), Mr Protazio Begumisa, in his published remarks for the 2017 Financial Reporting Awards Programme, called upon “more organizations to embrace the drive to improve financial reporting and unlock the value beyond numbers for the development of our nation”.
Robert Baldwin, the Chief Executive Officer of Crested Capital said, “It should be mandatory for CMA Licensees such as investment advisors, fund managers, and stockbrokers to make their audited financial statements available to the public on a continuous basis not just once-a-year in the newspapers. Greater financial disclosure from market intermediaries improves confidence in the capital markets and will ultimately prove beneficial to the licensees themselves as well as the investing public. I encourage Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s) who are seeking debt or equity capital through a public listing on the Uganda Securities Exchange to invest in high quality external audits and participate in competitions such as the FiRE Awards.”
