Uganda’s own tourism enthusiast Mr. Amos Masaba Wekesa has won the African Culture & Eco-Tourism Award category at the African Heritage Awards 2026.

Amos Wekesa is the founder and CEO of Great Lakes Safaris, Great Lakes Collection Ltd and also the proprietor of the now globally recognized Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon, an annual event in Uganda which takes place in Kasese.

His tourism contributions have earned him multiple continental and international recognitions in leisure and tourism, underscoring his impact in promoting domestic and international travel.

In recognition of his transformative leadership, commitment to sustainable tourism, and role in advancing cultural and eco-tourism across Africa, Amos Masaba Wekesa is nominated for AFRIHeritage’s African Cultural & Eco-Tourism Award.

The Awards ceremony is slated for 11th April in Accra, Ghana.
