Ambassador Barbara Nekesa Oundo over the weekend hosted a Thanksgiving Service to celebrate the victory of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and all other NRM candidates in the just concluded Presidential and Parliamentary elections. This was at Buwanda Primary School playground in Masafu Town Council, Busia District.

The Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda and NRM Second National Vice Chairperson, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among who was the Chief Guest pledged to support and empower ghetto youth in Busia District in appreciation of their overwhelming support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the NRM party in the recent general elections.

While addressing the gathering, Among said, she would return to Busia together with Ambassador Barbara Nekesa Oundo and Members of Parliament-elect to engage ghetto youth, organize and register them into groups, and support them financially to start income-generating activities.


She emphasized that the ghetto youth are important and must be empowered to participate meaningfully in national development.
Rt Hon. Anita also noted that during campaigns, President Museveni emphasized development and job creation, adding that government will ensure wealth creation for the youth through funding, establishment of skilling centres, and the construction of an industrial hub in Busia to create employment opportunities.

She made the remarks on Saturday during a thanksgiving ceremony organized by Amb. Barbara Nekesa Oundo, the NRM National Treasurer, at Buwanda Primary School playground in Masafu Town Council, Busia District.
The ceremony was held to appreciate voters for overwhelmingly supporting and voting President Museveni with 65 percent and all NRM MPs.
The event attracted grassroots mobilisers, MPs-elect, NRM national and district leaders, as well as residents from Bulumbi and Masafu sub-counties, who gathered to celebrate the party’s victory in the district.

The Thanksgiving organizer, Amb. Barbara Nekesa Oundo thanked the people of Busia for the contribution they made to President Museveni’s victory, noting that his overall 71 percent national result would not have been possible without Busia’s strong support, where he secured 65 percent of the vote.
Nekesa commended grassroots mobilisers for their role in securing the NRM victory, saying the mobilization effort started from village level up to the national level.
She said the thanksgiving was meant to appreciate supporters and demonstrate the party’s happiness with the outcome.
The NRM Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, said the country continues to enjoy peace and that after swearing-in, government will focus on infrastructure development, social services, fighting poverty at household level, regional integration, and expanding markets.
Sironko District Woman MP-elect, Hon. Mafabi Asha Nabulo, has assured the people of Bugisu that they had received assurances from the Speaker of Parliament and the NRM Secretary General that, with party support, Members of Parliament will be able to develop their respective constituencies, adding that the people of Sironko District and the entire Bugisu Region will not regret their decision to erect NRM leaders again 2026-2031.
