While addressing his supporters on Monday, Mbabaali told the people of Bukoto South that he has come to rescue them from poverty. “This campaign we are only talking about development, we are tired of leaders who are elected to represent people but instead represent themselves, forgetting their voters’ needs. Today we are talking about development, which we shall achieve through modern farming and trade. Agriculture mechanization is my priority because I know how important agriculture is to the people of Bukoto South and Lwengo as a whole” Mbabaali said.

He urged his supporters to join the ‘local saving schemes’ he set started for them as a means of benefitting from the government’s income. Mbabaali has so far set up over 200 SACCOs in Bukoto South with now close to Shs 2bn savings, and a bank in Kinoni through which these SACCOs will acquire loans.

The bank will be officially opened by President Yoweri Museveni on 5th February 2016 (next month). He has also provided seedlings as a way of driving famine out of Bukoto South. He did not stop on that but also liaised with Uganda Police and set up six police posts, to improve security in Bukoto South and reduce the crime rates.

During his campaign launch, Mbabaali was escorted by his wife Mariam Najjemba Mbabaali who while addressing her husband’s rally had this to say. “I didn’t not seek for another term to represent Gomba County in parliament because I took it upon myself to join my husband to develop Bukoto South. I urge the people of Bukoto South to massively vote for my husband Muyanja Mbabaali”

She attacked Amama Mbabazi on the reports that Mbabazi is trying to bring down whatever Mbabaali is doing saying that he will not succeed in bringing down her husband even if he tries to sponsor his opponents as it is alleged. “Amama Mbabazi should just forget about bringing down Muyanja Mbabaali,” she added.
