Yesterday in Ibanda, National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), together with local leaders, officially launched a major project to end years of water shortages and rationing in Ibanda Municipality and surrounding communities.
A new era of reliable water supply begins.
The project involves laying a 19 km DN250mm (10-inch) transmission main from the Break Pressure Tank at Kara Village, Mukazi Anyara, to Ibanda Municipality.
Once complete, water production will rise to approximately 2,500 cubic metres per day.
Fewer shortages. Less rationing. Better service.
Project cost: UGX 2.5 billion
Fully funded by NWSC
Expected completion: 3–4 months.
This is another concrete step in our commitment to deliver safe, reliable and sustainable water services.
Senior Director of Operations, Eng. Edmond, called on district leaders, stakeholders and the community to work together for successful delivery.
He urged the contractor to stick to timelines and reminded customers that timely payment of water bills supports continued investment in infrastructure.
Mayor of Ibanda Municipality:
“About 75% of the people of Ibanda consume unsafe water because of inadequate supply. I commit to supporting National Water throughout the implementation of this project so that our people can finally benefit.”

The Ibanda District Woman MP Hon. Jovrine Kyomukama Kaliisa and RDC also pledged full support and called for protection of the infrastructure against vandalism.
