2026 Updates: UPC Party president Jimmy Micheal Akena endorses Atocon Calvin as the UPC Flag Bearer for Ochero County MP seat
Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) party president Hon. Jimmy Akena has given a go ahead for Mr. Atocon Calvin to contest for Ochero County in Kaberamaido District MP seat in 2026-2031.
Hon. Akena endorsed him on 23rd November 2024 while addressing locals at Ochero Town Council.
Mr. Atocon Calvin has pinned a heartfelt letter to the people of Ochero County as he accepted the proposal from UPC party president.
The area Member of Parliament Hon. Emigu Julius Peter last year said he is tired and wants Atocon to take over in 2026.
He mentioned this on 28th December 2023 at Mr. Atocon Calvin’s Traditional Marriage function.
Below is his letter to the people of Ochero;
Dear beloved people of Ochero County, I have witnessed and seen your cries, I have heard your frustrations and desire to seek good leadership. I have also received numerous phone calls and I want to confirm to all of you that I have made wide consultations from within my political party and other political parties, different politicians those who are office bearers and those who are not, elders in the community, opinion leaders, the youth wing, the woman wing, the informal sector, the campaigners and the foot soldiers, my close friends and associates, my family members not forgetting my beloved wife, those who are within and outside Ochero in an attempt to redefine and understand our history of good leadership and how we can bring back our lost glory in 2026.
It was however important to give a chance to the current leadership to show what they are capable of doing or incapable of by fulfilling the social contracts they made with electorates unfortunately they have failed to live up to the expectations.
I would like to inform you that I will be in the ballot box representing my beloved people of Ochero County 2026-2031 as a member of Parliament.
I believe by joining hands together and working as a team, we can build a better Ochero and be the bridge,” Atocon Calvin wrote.
