14 people last night died on the spot in Lwera Swamp, Kalungu District along Masaka-Kampala Highway fatal accident.
According to Uganda Police, In the night of 03 August, 2026 at around 2300hrs, they registered a fatal road crash in Lwera Swamp, Kamunga Trading Centre, along the Kampala–Masaka Highway.
The accident involved a Toyota Hiace taxi (UA 662AQ) and a Sino Truk (UBS 040F) transporting sand.
Fourteen (14) people died on the spot, all from the taxi. Four injured victims, two from each vehicle, are admitted at Masaka Regional Referral Hospital.
Police visited the scene and investigations are underway. Efforts to trace the fleeing driver are ongoing.
