Having been raised in a financially less privileged family, pursued a profession (Journalism) that’s largely accepted as a male dominated. I have seen and experienced 1st hand challenges gone through by girls in Uganda before making it to success if they even make it.
The United Nations Girls’ Education Initiative (UNGEI) reported that more than 700,000 girls in Uganda between the ages of six to 12 have never attended school. In fact, around half of girls between the ages of 15 to 24 are illiterate and four in five girls do not attend high school.
In preparation for the International Women’s Day 2020, I have decided to launch Charity with Dianah Nabatanzi which is a campaign to empower the Girl child, the Uneducated, Disabled, less privileged, orphans and women who are largely now the heads of most families.
I invite you all in your capabilities to join me as we strive through this campaign to can make a difference in our society that’s largely drenched in poverty.
I believe an empowered girl can make a difference to help realize the Uganda in my and every ones dreams.
