The Ministry of Works and Transport in partnership with Uganda Traffic Police have unleashed ‘The automated Electronic Penalty System’ which is now live and active. Motorists are advised to obey speed limit and obey traffic lights as well as traffic rules and regulations to avoid getting into trouble with the law.
The camera-enabled system is actively issuing tickets to motorists across the country in an effort to enforce speed limits and red light compliance.
The Ministry has issued a caution that any violations will automatically attract penalties. Drive safe. Obey traffic rules.

Those driving with in Kampala note that speed limit for all roads in Kampala is 30kms per hour while on Highways no one is supposed to drive beyond 100km per hour with trading centres and places with institutions mostly at 50kms per hour.

The fines are aimed at reducing road carnage which has claimed lives of many Ugandans with most of them due to over speeding.

Motorists meanwhile have called on the authority to improve road infrastructure especially in Kampala Metropolitan as well as clearly mark the roads, add speed limit sign posts and zebra crossing markings and signs posts of warning of speed limit cameras ahead.
