Vivo Energy Uganda Partners with dfcu Bank to Offer Agency Banking Services at Selected Shell Stations

Vivo Energy Managing Director Gilbert Assi and dfcu Chief Executive Officer Mathias Katamba exchange a memorandum of understanding to mark a partnership between Vivo Energy Uganda and dfcu bank to offer agent banking services at selected Shell stores

Kampala: Vivo Energy Uganda, that company that distributes and markets Shell branded fuels and lubricants has today partnered with dfcuBank to offer agency banking services at selected Shell Stations.

Driven by the steady growth in convenience-seeking customers, Vivo Energy Uganda is refurbishing existing Shell service stations so that they not only include high-quality fuels and lubricants but also offer services such as shops, quick service restaurants, pharmacies, ATMs, tyre centres, insurance and car wash facilities. Agency Banking Services is the latest addition to its retail site offering.

During the launch of the promotion at Shell Banda, Gilbert Assi, Managing Director, Vivo Energy Uganda said that Vivo Energy has invested in convenience retailing to offer a wider range of services to both customers who fuel and service their vehicles at Shell service stations, as well as walk in customers:

The partnership with dfcu Agent Banking continues to reaffirm what we have always said and believed in – that convenience retail is an extension of our core business at Shell service stations.  I am pleased that our customers can now access some banking services at Shell Stations like making cash deposits and withdrawals; balance enquiries; generating mini-statements; paying utility billsand school fees; carrying out transfers; and originate the process of account opening.” said Gilbert Assi.

Speaking at the launch, the dfcu Chief Executive Officer Mathias Katamba said, dfcu Agent Banking is a promising strategy in driving financial inclusion by taking a broad range of financial services closer to our customers. We are optimistic it will add a sizeable percentage of the population to the formal banking system, while decreasing the banks cost to serve. With this partnership with Vivo Energy, and many more to come, there is no doubt that we are on track to extend financial services more conveniently to our customers.”

The Managing Director of Vivo Energy Uganda noted he was proud of the new partnership with dfcu Agent Bank and thanked dfcu for making it possible to deliver convenient solutions to our mutual customers.
