Uniting Bugisu: Rejecting Religious Division and Embracing Unity

Hon. Florence Nambozo

Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has long championed the cause of national unity, firmly denouncing any form of sectarianism, tribalism, or religious division. He has made it clear that such tactics not only undermine the NRM party but also threaten the socio-economic fabric of Uganda.

In a recent address, President Museveni reiterated that anyone found using religion or tribe to sow discord would face strict consequences. This stance is not just rhetoric; it is a call for all leaders to promote inclusivity and service delivery over divisive politics. As he has often stated, focusing on sectarian agendas detracts from the real issues that impact the daily lives of Ugandans.

Yet, despite the President’s clear message, instances of divisive rhetoric continue to emerge. During a recent burial in Ikalawa Parish, Honorable Nambozo Florence was reported to have incited mourners by urging them to segregate along religious lines. Such actions not only contradict the NRM’s principles but also jeopardize the unity of the people of Bugisu, specifically in Sironko.

Hon. Florence Nambozo

It is crucial to remember that the strength of the NRM and Uganda as a whole lies in our diversity and shared goals. The President’s vision for Uganda is one where all citizens, regardless of religious or ethnic background, work together for a prosperous future. Any attempts to undermine this vision through religious or tribal division must be swiftly and decisively addressed.

The people of Bugisu and Uganda at large deserve leadership that uplifts and unites, not one that sows seeds of hatred. Let us stand together in support of the President’s call for unity and reject any form of division. Only then can we truly achieve the socio-economic transformation that we all aspire to.
