Uganda has officially opened National Science Week 2026 today, April 30, at Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala, under the theme “STI Works: Powering Uganda to a USD 500 Billion Economy.”

The four-day event (April 30 – May 3) will showcase over 500 innovations, attract 200+ investors, and host 50,000 visitors, positioning science and innovation as the engine of Uganda’s economic transformation.

The event was officially opened by Minister Monica Musenero Masanza on April 9 at Serena Hotel, Kampala, ahead of today’s celebrations.

Future Makers Hackathon 2026 Prize pool of UGX 300M, encouraging innovators to submit solutions. They were Showcasing market-ready Ugandan products in mobility, AI, biosciences, electronics, and consumer innovation.

Largest in National Science Week history, featuring roundtables, deal rooms, and global pitch sessions.

Kayoola Electric Bus s flagship innovation, recently completed a 13,000 km journey from Kampala to Cape Town, demonstrating Uganda’s engineering capacity.
