Uganda AIDS Commission together with Village Journeys Africa have kicked off International Candlelight Commemoration Health Camp in Jinja in preparations for the 2026 Uganda AIDS Marathon. Every year communities around the World gather to remember, honour and unite against HIV and also do candlelight in Commemoration of those who have died of HIV/AIDS.
The health camp at Jinja Central Market carried out HIV tests, HIV counselling and offered vital health information creating awareness in fight against HIV. Together with the Uganda AIDS Commission, the aim is to end AIDS in Uganda by 2030.
The candlelight also honor mothers, sisters, grand parents supporting those living with HIV. The activation is covering cities across the country. The Uganda AIDS Marathon is due to take place on 29th November 2026.
