UCC directs ABS TV to stop airing ‘erotic’ shows
The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has issued a directive to ABS Tv to stop airing ‘erotic’ shows. The shows which the UCC wants the station to stop airing are; Kalondozi, Nabawalanyi and Oluwombo Lwa Bafumbo. UCC reasoned out that the above shows are in breach of the Minimum Broadcasting Standards set out in section 31 of the Uganda Communications Act 2013.
“The Commission has established that ABS TV station has continuously broadcast programmes that are in breach of the Minimum Broadcasting Standards set out in Section 31 of the Uganda Communications Act 2013.
These programmes include; Kalondozi, Nabawalanyi and Oluwombo Lwa Bafumbo.
The Commission, henceforth, directs ABS TV to stop broadcasting these programmes with immediate effect.
We, therefore, call on the general public to accord us your usual cooperation in case this directive is breached by the station in question,” UCC ordered. ABS TV is owned by Pastor Augustine Yiga.
