Five years ago, Mr. Amos Wekesa with a few colleagues started what they thought was just a mere fun event but five years on, everyone is talking about Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon.
By 2025, the Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon had welcomed 6,000 runners representing 36 countries. Today, it stands as Uganda’s first World Athletics Label Road Race and one of the country’s most exciting sports tourism experiences.
Its growth has placed Kasese and the Rwenzori region before wider audiences, inviting more travellers to discover the landscapes, hospitality and adventures that make this part of Uganda unforgettable.
This coming Saturday on 22nd August 2026, the remarkable story will continue with this year’s Edition in Kasese. It is expected to attract more than 20,000 participants with over 10m people expected to watch the event Globally. What a rise!!! #ExploreUganda.
