Sudhir Ruparelia, the Chairman for Ruparelia Group of Companies which comprises of media, hospitable, education, insurance, farming among others has been nominated for a prestigious female employers’ award 2017.

A source close to Uganda’s biggest employer intimated that the event shall take place in Washington DC, USA in June this year. The Award is given to private employers who employ more women than men normally in thousands across Africa.

Sudhir was reportedly selected because he is the third biggest female employer in Africa.

“Out of the 7,000 employees across Sudhir’s business entities, over 65% are females,” a source close to the billionaire told EyeWitness24.

In an exclusive interview with Sudhir, he noted that women are trustable and dependable at work than their male counterparts.

“Women are very cautious, more trustable and dependable and quite swift compared to men,” said Sudhir.

The prestigious award comes along with a whopping $1m (over sh3.5bn) and Sudhir is confident that he will triumph because he focuses most on women. On top of the $1m, a winner nominates his/her most loyal employee (female) who also bags $100,000 (over sh350m).

Sudhir is the proprietor of Rosebud, the country’s leading flower exporter which employs hundreds of women. More women work in his hotels like Speke Hotel, Kabira country club, Speke Resort Munyonyo and many more are employed in his other chain of businesses.

Women, especially in Africa still face various challenges and many of them are the sole breadwinners of their families!
