Roofings Rolling Mills (RRM) today extended their generosity and societal good will by contributing 2000 trees to Mukono town as part of their end of year Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The handover of the 2000 trees which was held at the Mayoral Gardens coincided with the annual World Aids Day.

“The trees, comprising of Moringa, Musizi (umbrella tree type) are long lasting tree species that are strong, beautiful and would expound on the greenery of our immediate surroundings. As an eco-friendly corporate entity, it is our priority to not only safeguard our community by providing employment and a better standard of living but also re-affirm the contribution that trees play to our environment,” stated Stuart Mwesigwa, head of business development at Roofings Group.

The tree planting initiative which is currently in its second year is a passionate project that Roofings intends to cajole other corporate companies to partner with. “With a production plant in Namanve Business Park, we chose the area of Mukono starting from Misindye, Nabuti and all the way to Bukerere so as to create a forest-like attraction to our nearby community. We also encourage other firms/businesses to take on this mantle and better our future with a simple and yet worthwhile endeavor as such”.

Deputy Mayor of Mukono municipality Kojoba Jamadah, who received the trees from Roofings Group commended the kindhearted sentiment. “As many entities are thinking of throwing lavish parties and exorbitant gifts to their staff, it is quite exemplary to see that Roofings Group would make such a consideration especially now when rainfall is in high demand due to the recent prolonged droughts that have been distorting our agricultural yield,” Jamadah stressed.
