Rukiga: Rukiga District is celebrating a major milestone following the appointment of former Rukiga County MP, Hon. Roland Ndyomugyenyi Bishi, as the East African Representative on the African Panel of Trade and Investment for the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The appointment takes effect 1st September 2026.

In this role, Hon. Bishi will: Represent the entire East African region on the African Panel of Trade and Investment;
– Advise and shape trade and investment policy under AfCFTA to boost intra-Africa trade;
– Champion Uganda’s interests and ensure East African businesses, farmers, and SMEs benefit from continental market opportunities.

His appointment was officially announced on Sunday at St. Mark C.O.U, Ryabirengye, Bukinda Sub-county, in Rukiga District, the same he hosted a Thanksgiving function to complete the same church.

This is not just a win for Rukiga, but for Uganda as a nation. It is expected that Hon. Bishi will use his experience and voice to open more doors for trade, investment, and jobs across East Africa and the continent. He will be representing all East African member states on the African panel.

Hon. Bishi’s offices will be at the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, located at Africa Trade House, Ambassadorial Enclave, Liberia Road, Ridge, Accra, Ghana.
