NWSC to add 4000 water points in Kampala

National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has revealed that it is planning to set up 4000 water points in various parts of Kampala City.

This was revealed during the tour to inspect water and sanitation in Bwaise and other areas of Kampala City last week.

NWSC MD Dr.Eng Silver Mugisha, Kawempe RCC Deborah Nabukenya, The General Manager Kampala Water Eng Andrew Sekayizzi and local leaders inspected water and sanitation facilities in Bwaise Kampala City.

The tour was aimed at recording feedback from beneficiaries of NWSC water and Sanitation projects in the city.

NWSC plans to add over 4000 water points and construct sanitation facilities in various parts of the city to improve access to safe water and better sanitation among the urban poor under its Urban Poor Branch.

“I will continue to visit our customers in the field to note feedback for better service delivery in all our areas of operation. I have also noted with concern that some vendors are exploiting the poor people. NWSC is going to install more water points to reduce on the influence of the middlemen and vendors,” Dr. Eng Silver Mugisha.

Some of the installations visited included NWSC Prepaid Water meters that enable the urban poor buy water at the official price of shs37 per 20 litre jerrycan.

The customer connect exercise will go on for 4 weeks as the corporation moves to better services in the city.
