A group of young NRM cadres and senior leaders from Alur land, in West Nile, are getting agitated by the general silence in Greater Nebbi over the coming next term of the President, Gen Kaguta Museveni Yoweri.

They are worried that while their brothers from Acholi and Lango have been seriously lobbying for serious political appointments of their daughters ahead  of H.E Museveni’s new government in May, Nebbi community are very quiet as if they did not vote for the same President who won the election with over 95% in the region.

On almost ten different groups of the Alur, the discussions this week and last week have all been about how smart and sharp the Lango and Acholi people are and now they want their children to be given high and big positions in the next government of President Museveni too.

Now those complaining about the silence are planning a very important meeting with their cultural King, Phillips Olarker Rauni III, to tell him to organise and meet the president or his powerful brother Gen Salim Saleh.

The Greater Nebbi Community this time voted over 95% on average for Museveni. The Nebbi leaders want to tell the powerful Museveni that this time they have voted NRM with one heart so they should be appreciated with also some senior Government jobs like full cabinet ministers, PSs, commissioners and other jobs extra.

It should be remembered that when president Museveni visited Nebbi and Pakwach and Zombo to meet the Alurs and ask for his votes, the NRM party leaders told him they also want their children to be considered for some good jobs in Museveni government.

They have now tasked King Ubimu Phillips Olarker Rauni III, their Prime Minister Prince Lawrence Opar Angala and other leaders to voice their concerns to His Excellency, the president of the Republic of Uganda, how they feel; not happy about being left out of NRM Government.

They want to make sure that even in the coming cabinet, he should not forget them completely like he has been doing.

President Museveni has been appointing Alurs to only deputy ministers and ministers of state and never has an Alur ever tasted full cabinet.

Currently the Alurs have only one minister, Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro, who is a state of Energy yet they have supported Kaguta all through since he came from the bush.

The Alurs also do not have any ambassadors in Museveni’s government of today, not even a PS. But even commissioners are not more than 2 in this government.

If the King accepts to have the meeting, it is going to be heated and hot because many sons and daughters of greater Nebbi are very educated and not being thought about in good jobs for the government, not even as Directors of boards in this government.

In the army, the whole greater Nebbi Community only has one Major General ( Dick Olum). The rest of the numbers of officers in the army are only mainly majors and only about 5 or seven.

In the police, it is even worse because they don’t have any senior officers since the one who was senior has retired and is now an advisor to the IGP.

Things like presidential advisors they don’t have at all even when there are so many in Uganda today.

The Alur say that Minister Nyamutoro alone cannot be enough. They say they voted for the president because they also want to enjoy national cake.

The group is consulting the elders to come up with the list of 10 names which they will hand to the President to choose from. Sources say retired Archbishop Henry Luke Orombi and King Ubimu Phillip of Alur will lead the delegation to the President. Watch the space!!
