Sections of Mathias Mpuuga’s social media warriors are unhappy and have vowed to expose Bobi Wine’s hypocricy, intrigue and dishonesty aimed at diminishing lawyer Medard Segona’s role in securing the last week win in the Supreme Court which nullified all civilian trials in army courts and tribunals.
Refusal to castigate Mathias Mpuuga has already made Segona unwanted inside NUP and singer Mathias Walukagga (who can barely express himself in English) is being considered to be fronted by Bobi Wine for his Busiro East MP Seat come 2026.
Ordinarily, Segona, having been lead counsel in Mike Kabaziguruka’s petition that prompted judges to shoot down the Court Martial, ought to be the one shinning everywhere but that hasn’t happened to anticipated levels because of backstabbing by Kyagulanyi.

This is largely because that’s not what Bobi Wine wants. He is renowned for fearing and being personally insecure around intelligent people. You have to be a dwarf like him or even worse (or pretend to be) in order to be tolerated.
Like all autocratic leaders, Bobi Wine is afraid that Segona can easily eclipse and overshadow him-the very reason he was recently heckled and attacked by Kyagulanyi-instigated foot soldiers when he visited NUP headquarters for a legislators’ meeting.

Bobi Wine, who personally or through NUP party had nothing to do with the Kabaziguruka case which was filed in 2016 long before he joined politics, has been working hard and deliberately to diminish Medard Segona’s role and that of his patient and decisive client Kabaziguruka in the Supreme Court win.
In his wierd-mindedness, Kyagulanyi fears that the duo can easily ride on their Supreme Court victory and euphoria to eclipse him and diminish his relevance currently on the Ugandan political scene!
A day after the Supreme Court judgment was delivered, Kyagulanyi made a long social media post commenting on the same but he curiously didn’t mention nor thank Segona for his excellent lawyering skills. Neither did he make any reference to the petitioner Michael Kabaziguruka.
In Segona’s case, he fears that the resultant political capital and euphoria may ease his 2026 reelection bid in Busiro East and in Kabaziguruka’s case, his fear is related to Waisswa Mufumbiro.
Having been rejected by his fellow Basogas in Jinja, Bobi Wine badly wants his blind loyalist Waisswa Mufumbiro to stand for the Nakawa East MP, which Kabaziguruka too is interested in. He served as the first opposition politician to beat NRM to that position since the year 1986. Kabaziguruka served as MP from 2016 to 2021 when Kyagulangi-backed Ronald Balimwezo won.
Kyagulanyi is aware that Segona and Kbaziguruka, who he hates because they aren’t willing to bow before him and engage in any flattery in his favor, have reaped some political capital from the court ruling and because of his narrow-mindedness, he fears that any public recognition of their role by him will add onto their popularity in their respective constituencies where he doesn’t want them to win in 2026. He thinks its his duty to determine who wins in all Buganda constituencies. You either become a sycophant and sing his praises or else you won’t win anything anywhere for the opposition.
It’s for that reason that on Monday this week, the same Kyagulanyi convened a media event at his party headquarters and purpoted to be referencing the Supreme Court ruling, which he personally or his party never had anything to do with at all.
Instead of referencing the petitioner Kabaziguruka or even inviting his lawyer Segona (who is a NUP member), the flat-footed Kyagulanyi circumvented the truth by inviting NRM-leaning and Evelyn Anite-patronised lawyer Caleb Alaka to be the one to explain and break down the Supreme Court ruling to a large group of his sycophants who had gathered.
And quite dishonestly, as Alaka explained, Kyagulanyi depicted himself before his sycophants as if this had been his case or NUP’s. Alaka spoke in English as Kenneth Paul Kakande translated in Luganda, something the now unwanted Medard Ssegona would have done more effectively.
And here is the truth about Caleb Alaka’s involvement in the petition. Segona started on it in 2016 and closely worked with his boss Erias Lukwago and their law firm mentee young lawyer Abubaker Sekanjako. The Rwakafuzi law firm also did some good work.
They won in the Constitutional Court only to later on be joined by two volunteers namely Caleb Alaka and Sam Muyizi in the Supreme Court when the AG appealed. The duo made some modest contributions and generally supported Segona as he submitted and led the fight inside the Supreme Court.
In fact, the duo of Alaka and Muyizi invited themselves into the case as they told the indomitable Medard Segona “we would like to join you.” He let them in and they indeed played some peripheral role in the Supreme Court.
Yet at Kavule, Kyagulanyi deceptively depicted them as if theirs was the major law firm as the Kabaziguruka case was being argued from the very beginning. In preparing for the upcoming fight, the Mpuuga camp social media warriors have prepared to ride on the case to portray Kyagulanyi as a petty and very dishonest politician.
