More new tourism sites unveiled in Busoga Region by Rt Hon.Rebecca Kadaga Aliwatala

The 1st Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Affairs, Rt Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has unveiled more two new tourism sites in Bunha chiefdom, Mayuge district.

The newly unveiled sites are; Mawuta Hill Site which is widely known for unique healing herbs in Bukatube sub county and Fort Luba Thurston Historical Site, in Bukaleba sub county.

This is a site has several spots which includes caves where the slaves where gathered, the first chief Luba’s parliament and peninsula.

The chairperson Busoga tourism board Rt Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga together with the Minister of Tourism and Heritage, Busoga Kingdom, Hon. Hellen Olga Namutamba initiated a ‘Busoga Tourism Trial Experience’ campaign which is intended to unveil new tourism sites in the Busoga Kingdom, aiming to boost the region’s cultural and natural heritage tourism.

During this campaign, Ministry of Tourism and Heritage Busoga is moving across all the 11 chiefdoms in Busoga to unveil new tourism sites for development and promotion.

In her speech, Hon Kadaga confirmed the forty-two (42) tourism sites so far in Busoga. “The aim of this campaign is to promote Busoga cultural and heritage tourism sites” she informed. The minister of Busoga tourism owek Hellen Namutamba called people to invest at the tourism sites. Hon. Hellen posed a demand for the government to gazette these sites to ease the development.

After the unveiling the new tourism sites, Hon Kadaga joined the hundreds of people at Mayuge district headquarters where she awarded trophies to the teams which worn the Busoga Tourism football tournament, women bicycle cycling team, athletes etc.

Many prizes, including medals and mattresses, were given to the talented girls and boys who excelled in the competitions. A special gift of a motorcycle was presented to the chiefdom, and bicycles were given to the LC1 chairpersons of the newly unveiled sites to help promote tourism in Bunha chiefdom and Mayuge district as whole.
