Maj Gen James Birungi takes over as CMI chief as Abel Kandiho is transferred
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed Maj James Birungi as the Chief of Military Intelligence (CMI) replacing Maj Abel Kandiho who has been transferred.
Man Gen James Birungi is the former Commander of UPDF Special Forces.
Maj Gen Abel Kandih has now been posted to South Sudan as a Uganda’s special envoy.
The Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations and Commander Land Forces Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has congratulated the two officers.
“I congratulate both Maj.General Abel Kandiho and Maj.General James Birungi on their new appointments. Hongera sana,” Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba posted on his Twitter handle.
