Katumwa’s eldest son co-directs his father’s concert

For Isaiah Katumwa, talent and ambition evidently run through the family’s blood line. The jazz maestro can proudly say that he shared his genius genes down to his son, Mitchell Katumwa, who has shown an increasing interest in his father’s music career.

 

The 16year-old will be a part of his father’s production crew for today’s jazz event dubbed ‘The Johnnie Walker Isaiah Katumwa Concert.’

This is going to be young Katumwa’s first time working on a gig with high profile guests and artists who will be attending the concert. Mitchell has previously been known to have a knack for singing and has shown off his vocal talents to a few of Kampala’s crowds at different gatherings around town.

I have deliberately been keeping him involved ineverything that I do. Mitchell has shown great interest and put in a lot of effort in tonight’s concert. His contribution has added a fresh and unique perspectivenot to mention creativity that is going to benefit everyone at the show and we are all looking forward to a spectacular concert,” said Isaiah Katumwa.

The concert will feature the three-time Grammy Award Winner, Angelique Kidjo and American saxophonist Darren Rahn who will both be sharing a stage withIsaiah Katumwa this evening.
