HiPipo CEO and Financial Digital expert, Mr. Innocent Kawooya said he is humbled and honoured to be appointed to the Board of Directors of K2 Telecom Uganda. In a statement on his social media platforms last evening, Innocent said he accepts the responsibility with gratitude and deep appreciation.

Below is his full statement;

Today, I am humbled and honoured by my appointment to the Board of Directors of K2 Telecom Uganda.

I accept this responsibility with gratitude and deep appreciation for the trust placed in me to contribute to the Buganda Kingdom’s digital transformation ambitions through leadership, innovation, and technology. As I reflect on this moment, I am reminded that great leadership journeys are never walked alone.

Over the last two decades, HiPipo has grown from an idea and a conviction into an ecosystem that has connected telecommunications companies, VAS providers, FinTechs, innovators, regulators, financial institutions, developers, entrepreneurs, and millions of citizens across Africa. Together, we have helped shape conversations and create opportunities around digital transformation, financial inclusion, payments, entrepreneurship, healthcare, and innovation.

None of this was built by one person.

I owe a special debt of gratitude to the incredible HiPipo founders and team and the wider HiPipo family. Your passion, belief, and commitment have transformed ambitious ideas into institutions, platforms, partnerships, and movements that continue to create impact across the continent.

I am equally grateful to the many partners who believed in our vision and chose to build with us. In particular, I would like to thank the Gates Foundation and the COMESA Business Councill for their trust, collaboration, and shared commitment to inclusion and innovation across Africa.

In a very special way, I wish to thank Miller Abel. Many people see the outcomes, events, partnerships, recognitions, and milestones. Few see the countless conversations, the difficult decisions, the long nights, the moments of uncertainty, and the persistence required to keep building. Your contribution to this journey is immense, and many of the things we have achieved simply would not have happened without your generous support and partnership.

This appointment belongs as much to the people who built alongside me as it does to me personally.

As I begin this new chapter, I remain committed to building institutions that outlive individuals, ecosystems that create opportunities for others, and technologies that expand inclusion and prosperity for everyone across Africa.

We all must always remember that the most meaningful achievements are rarely individual victories. They are the product of teams that choose to believe, partners that choose to trust, and ecosystems that choose to build together for the long term.

Thank you to everyone. The best chapters are still ahead. #MadeofGOD #IncludeEveryone
