Health Ministry Permanent Secretary receives more donations

National Aviation Services donated testing kits worth USD 140,000

The Permanent Secretary, Dr. Diana Atwine received a donation of 7,000 COVID-19 antibody rapid diagnostic test kits from National Aviation Services (NAS) formerly Entebbe Handling Services (ENHAS) worth USD 140,000. Once the kits complete the required validation, they will complement COVID-19 testing .

The Redeemed Christian Church of God- Uganda located in Namuwongo donated UGX 3,200,000 towards the COVID-19 response in Uganda. The donation was handed over to Dr. Atwine by Ms. Lydia Akoth.

“In an effort to support the battle against the current pandemic, NAS donated 7,000 Antibody Rapid Testing Kits (RDT) to the Ugandan Ministry of Health. These RDTs will be utilized by the Ugandan COVID-19 National Task Force to help estimate the proportion of population that has developed immunity against the virus. The kits were transported from Kuwait and delivered urgently in partnership with DHL. Nouamane Zahouani, General Manager of NAS Uganda (formerly known as ENHAS) handed over the kits to Dr. Diana Atwiine, Permanent Secretary, Ugandan Ministry of Health,” NAS posted.

Africell Uganda also donated 3 brand new Tata Xenon Pickups, 1 tonne of Posho, 1 tonne of Rice and 1 tonne of Soya beans to support the COVID-19 response activities.

The Ministry of Health appreciates all support received in the fight against COVID-19 in Uganda.
