President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has launched Uganda’s first homemade Anti- Tick vaccine and Production facility situated at The National Livestock Resources Research Institute – Namulonge and commits 600 billion shillings support to scale up the NARO vaccine HUB
The 170 billion shillings initiative has been funded by government of Uganda since 2022 when the livestock Anti-Tick vaccine efforts commenced by Ugandan researchers at the National Agricultural Research Organization – NARO to address the ticks threat to livestock in the country.

President Yoweri Museveni has affirmed Uganda’s unstoppable transformation trends in scientific innovations as it’s currently state of development since the the NRM government assumed power and evolved the country through the minimum economic recovery stage, economy expansion, diversification, value addition to now science and technological stage.

The Minister for Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries, Hon. Frank Tumwebaze ha thanked His Excellency Kaguta Museveni for finding time amidst his busy schedule to come and launch the anti-tick vaccine today at Nakyesasa. The minister described it as a great win for the farming community.
He also thanked Parliament of Uganda, Ministry of Finance Economic Planning and Development Hon. Matia Kasaija, Hon. Henry Musasizi and PS Ramathan Ggoobi for all the support given to this effort.

“I congratulate our scientists for not only their intellectual innovation but also for being patriotic. To the farmers; NARO Uganda
will continue creating awareness on how to access and use the vaccine. Strict adherence to vaccine administration protocols is key to achieving maximum efficacy. God bless our leader and God bless Uganda,” Hon. Frank Tumwebaze said.
