dfcu Bank and Rotary Uganda launch dfcu Humanity Day to Bring Healthcare to Communities

Mbuya: Tens of residents of Kinawataka and Mbuya turned up for a day of care and compassion as dfcu Bank, in partnership with Rotary Uganda, launched the inaugural #dfcuHumanityDay, providing a wide range of medical services to the local community.

The event, held at St. Joseph Mukasa Balikuddembe Church, saw over 3,000 people access essential health services including dental and ENT checks, HIV testing and counseling, antenatal care, sickle cell testing, mental health support, and general medical consultations. By 7:15 am, more than 300 people had already begun lining up for treatment, highlighting the high demand for accessible healthcare services in the area.

Geoffrey Martin Kitakule, the District Governor of Rotary District 9213, which covers a large part of Uganda, emphasized the importance of partnerships in extending healthcare to underserved communities.

“We are here to complement the government’s efforts. Despite the strides made by public health services, the need remains great. Through initiatives like this, we bring essential health services directly to the people who need them most,” Chisakule said.

Rotary Uganda has a longstanding commitment to community service and health, with seven key areas of focus including maternal and child health, disease prevention, and water and sanitation. “When you improve water and sanitation, you improve the health of the entire community. Today’s camp is an example of how partnerships with institutions like dfcu Bank can create a tangible impact,” he added.

Charles Mudiwa, Managing Director of dfcu Bank, highlighted the role of corporate social responsibility in driving positive change. “Making a difference starts with supporting those who support us. Today, we witnessed how strategic partnerships can transform lives and build thriving communities. This is just the beginning,” Mudiwa said.

The event brought together over six Rotary clubs, along with staff from dfcu Bank, including members of the Rotary Club of Blue Hearts, one of the first corporate-based Rotary clubs in Uganda. The partnership with dfcu Bank ensures continued support for Rotary Family Health Days, a three-year initiative aimed at extending healthcare services to communities nationwide.

This initiative follows other successful collaborations, including a recent medical camp in Arua, where 6,000 people received treatment, demonstrating the growing impact of Rotary’s community health programs supported by corporate partners.

The #dfcuHumanityDay is part of a broader effort to reach vulnerable communities, provide essential health services, and strengthen the collaboration between the private sector, civil society, and local communities.
