Bar owners petition Speaker of Parliament over easing lockdown on entertainment places

Members of Bars, Restaurants, Clubs and entertainment places have petitioned Speaker of Parliament Hon. Rebecca Kadaga over easing lockdown on opening of bars and clubs.

Through their umbrella organization Bar, Club and Entertainment Owners Association, they today managed to petition parliament through the Spear Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga over easing and phased opening of their bars and restaurants.
Patrick Musinguzi, the association’s mouth piece said as heads, they will ensure members observe the SOPs and they are read to penalise whoever shall not comply in the industry with the set standards.

Patrick said the speaker was very surprised when they told her their employees are being chased out of their houses by landlords over non payments of rent. The speaker promised to take the issues to the floor of parliament.

“We thank Hon Kadaga for listening to us and we believe the president shall listen to us as well,” he added.

While addressing the nation on Monday on easing lockdown, the President said bars and clubs will remain closed for at least the next 14 days or so.
