Internationally celebrated multi-platinum Nigerian music star has released “Ocean” – brand new single with cinematic visuals via Platoon. Celebrated globally for her hit record “Jailer” among other gems, and a myriad of wide ranging musical and creative influences, Asa has always forged her own path with trailblazing sounds and song-writing.

Ahead of the release of “Ocean”, Asa shared, “Ocean is liberating and confident yet subtle. The power in knowing who I am, loving how I want, doing what I want and reveling in the drop dead ecstatic that God created.”

Once again teaming up with the exciting Nigerian producer Priime, “Ocean” takes cues from Pop, Afrobeat, R&B and Soul sounds. On its dreamy music video, Asa is reconnecting with the talented Nigerian director and photographer Meji Alabi to deliver a magical, breezy affair that you will want to lose yourself within with every listen.

The new song follows the success of Asa’s recent release “Mayana”. Both the singles will feature in Asa’s upcoming fifth studio album ‘V (Five)’ which is out on February 25th.  In the new release Asa draws on the marriage of rhythmic, hip-shaking percussion with sultry, laid-back vocals that have got long-time and new fans alike eagerly anticipating her just-announced, forthcoming new album.

Asa’s ‘V (Five)’ album was born out of a last-minute decision to return to her home in Nigeria, when the European leg of her tour had been paused due to the pandemic, where she started working on new music and connecting with some of the brilliant artists and creatives from Nigeria and across the continent. She explains that her approach was, “with a certain carefreeness, letting go, trusting in the process and allowing myself to be vulnerable.”

With the promise of more new music this year, Asa is also set for invigorating shows,  kick-starting with a one of a kind live performance offering in London for a headline show at the iconic Royal Albert Hall on May 3rd 2022.
