Former Deputy Speaker Rt Hon Anita Annet Among has lauded president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Central Executive Committee of NRM Party for their vote of confidence in her as she vies for the slot of Speaker of 11th Parliament to replace fallen Speaker Rt Hon Jacob Oulanyah.
In a lengthy statement, Hon Anita Among said she was overwhelmed by the support offered to her so far.
The election of the new speaker are due to take place on Friday this week. Below is her full statement;
“With humility and a contrite heart I would Like to extend my sincere gratitude to our Party Leader, His Excellency General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the distinguished Men and Women of the Central Executive Committee of the NRM Party for their vote of confidence.In the same vein I also extend my appreciation to the Members of Parliament of the NRM Caucus for their unwavering support and indeed, the entire Parliament of Uganda fraternity for their overwhelming support thus far.
It is my earnest prayer that we conclude this process with nobility and decorum as a befitting tribute to our beloved departed leader, the Rt. Hon. Jacob L’Okori Oulanyah.
May the Almighty God grant us the courage and fortitude to overcome this trying moment in the history of our Parliament. For God and my Country,’ Anita Among said.
