Airtel Uganda celebrates Women’s Day by organising inspirational talk for its own ladies
To celebrate 2020 International Women’s Day, Airtel Uganda organised a breakfast for Airtel Uganda ladies with motivational speakers to inspire them.

This was at Airtel Head offices at Clement Hill and the power session aimed at inspiring and daring the Airtel ladies to stretch beyond their potential.

Among the speakers were Diana Ninsiima, a lawyer and mentor who is a member of ‘Girls 4 Girls’ mentorship, Claire Komaketch of Vision Group, Grace Linda and Ingabire Fortunate (lawyer) and DR. Eunice Adubango, educationist, publisher and MD Eunice’s Kitchen.

Diana talked about mentorship and urged fellow ladies to always share their stories to inspire others.
“If you share your success story with someone, it will uplift them and drive them to success,” she said.

Clare Komakech who is also part of the Girls4Girls project – a platform that empowers and inspires the girl child told the ladies that if they want to discover themselves, they should learn more on communication and negotiation.
“You need to join groups of like-minded people with positive energy. Be around women who celebrate you. The type that rejoices when you rejoice,” she said.
Dr. Eunice Adubango who is now a thriving businesswoman, Ph.D. holder, and a celebrated speaker told the ladies how she struggled before she finally nailed it.
Eunice Adubango narrates her life story of how she was exploited by a construction company in her first job that paid UGX 300,000 as a civil engineer also operating as a driver and operations manager.
“I wanted to do my masters but it was around that delicate moment when my dad lost his job. I had to sleep in a Sahara pick up for days to save the 30,000 they gave me as the allowance for upcountry projects”.

She further narrates how she channeled her savings to poultry farming and would later venture into catering classes following her passion for cooking.
“One day I advertised cooking classes on Facebook and by 2PM I had 20 women who signed up for UGX 50,000 per person. It was at that time that i held a million shillings in my life for the first time.”
Dr. Eunice Adubango inspired ladies on how to save saying; “If you are the type that has to introduce your child to the headteacher at the start of every term, that’s not a good place to be. Try and save for school fees irrespective of whether it’s holidays or not. You will be amazed by the change savings can make.”

“I have an employee at Euni’s kitchen who came to me and asked how I managed to get out of rentals. I advised him to save and start up a small business of Matooke for his wife.”
Long story short, “Paul saved, started growing maize in the village and he’s now a proud owner of land. His wife now has a business in Kikuubo that makes UGX 500,000 a week in profit.”
It was an exciting and educative opportunity for Airtel ladies who many of them left the room with smiles on their faces.
