Coffee farmer, Rwakakamba Morrison has appreciated Vice President H.E Jessica Alupo for handing over Heartland Coffee to Korean team.
“Thank you Madam Vice President Jessica Alupo! Heartland coffee is the pride of Rujumbura, here in Rukungiri — Uganda. Our Heartland Arabica coffee trees were carefully selected by my dad — Kahamutima (from the Heart) from his dad’s (Rukokori rwa Rwakakamba) garden established in 1912,” Rwakakamba Morrison said.
“These trees were were introduced in Uganda around 1900 from Nyasa / Nyasaland (Typica-type) — brought from Nyasaland (now Malawi). In my local language they are called Nasaranda. We grow this at 1,650 meters above sea level on hilltop of Nyakashozi and Katagira ishokye hills in the greater Rujumbura area. Soon, we are introducing Heartland fine robusta — growing at Kabingo, Ikuniro here in Buhunga Sub County — Rujumbura County, Rukungiri District,” he added.
