Uganda has officially launched National Science Week 2026 under the theme “Powering Uganda to a $500 Billion Economy”,.
The events are scheduled from April 27th to May 2nd, 2026 at Kololo Independence Grounds and other venues with exhibitions across major grounds.
The launch was led by Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Dr. Monica Musenero, positions science and innovation as the cornerstone of Uganda’s ambitious economic transformation.

According to Dr Monica Musenero, the Objectives of National Science Week 2026 will be about Economic Transformation. Demonstrate how STI can drive Uganda toward its $500 billion economy target.
It will also include Innovation Showcase especially the highlight of Ugandan innovations in health, agriculture, energy, and digital technology.


Dr. Monica also talked about youth, entrepreneurs, and researchers to embrace science as a tool for national development as she presented Uganda as a rising hub for scientific research and industrial production in Africa.

Exhibitions: Cutting-edge innovations by Ugandan scientists and startups, including biotechnology, renewable energy, and space technology projects.
Satellite Launch Plans: Uganda is preparing to launch two new satellites, signaling its entry into advanced space research.
Panel Discussions: Experts will debate how STI can solve pressing challenges like food security, climate change, and industrial competitiveness.
Youth Programs: Special sessions designed to inspire students and young innovators to pursue careers in science and technology.
