In Mafudu, Sironko District, The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chairman for Sironko District, Hajji Sulaiman Lumolo Mafabi, has sent a stern warning to party members against the commercialization of party flags, asserting that leadership positions are earned through hard work, voter mobilization, and merit, not purchased through backdoor deals.
Speaking during a vibrant thanksgiving ceremony held on Saturday, June 28, 2026, at Mafudu Primary School playground, Lumolo dismissed rumours that his office sells NRM flags, emphasizing:
“If you lose, it means you were not well prepared. Go and look for votes, talk to the voters, and we shall declare the winner.”

The event was organized to thank the people of Sironko for re-electing him as NRM Chairman and to officially endorse President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as the party’s sole candidate for the upcoming 2026 general elections and beyond.
Addressing thousands gathered, Lumolo rallied residents to unite behind the NRM and President Museveni for continued peace and development.

“For us in Sironko, if we don’t support President Museveni, other districts like Bulambuli, Namisindwa, Bududa, Manafwa and others will, and we’ll be left behind. Let us join hands and support him and all our flag bearers.”
He further cautioned voters against selling their votes for meagre sums, stressing that such practices derail the district’s development agenda:
“If you want development, stop selling your vote for 1,000, 2,000, or 3,000 shillings. Stick to the NRM manifesto. If we do that, we won’t have opposition in Sironko. But if we mix politics with family or religious sentiments, we won’t get good leaders.”
Calls for Unity and Transformative Leadership
The NRM Woman MP flag bearer for Sironko District, Ms Mafabi Asha Nabulo, who was declared unopposed, echoed Lumolo’s message, urging leaders to champion peace and development-based campaigns rather than personal attacks.

“Our focus as Sironko is on vision and transformative leadership. As leaders, we must be symbols of unity. If we don’t promote unity, we won’t develop,” she said. “This leadership is not mine. It’s for all of you.”
Security Assurances and Strategic Mobilization
Resident District Commissioner, Denis Balwaniregha, assured voters of security’s commitment to free, fair, and peaceful elections, emphasizing the importance of stability in driving development programs forward.

The ceremony also attracted notable leaders, including Julius Nakiyi, an aspiring MP for Budadiri East, who contributed Shs 5 million towards the event’s activities. Nakiyi lauded Chairman Lumolo for organizing the Thanksgiving and pledged unwavering support for the NRM and party unity.
“If I don’t get the NRM flag, I will support the winner,” Nakiyi vowed, adding that early preparations and mass mobilization positioned him strongly. He further revealed plans to hold strategic meetings with fellow contestants and consolidate their supporters after the primaries on July 17, aiming to strengthen the NRM’s chances in the 2026 general elections.
The Bigger Picture
Lumolo’s warning against the sale of party flags comes at a critical time as NRM gears up for heated primaries across the country. His firm stance on merit-based flag allocation reaffirms the party’s commitment to internal democracy and performance-driven leadership, setting a precedent for upcoming electoral processes in Bugisu sub-region and Uganda at large.
His message was clear: victory is earned, not bought, and only through visionary, people-centred leadership will Sironko and Uganda realize their full potential.
