2026 Updates: Why Hon. Zaake Francis is likely to retain Mityana Municipality MP seat

As the 2026 general elections get closer, we continue to feature for you those who are likely to retain their seats or those intending to contest a fresh. Today, we will hight light for you the achievements of Mityana Municipality MP Hon. Francis Zaake Butebi, a member of National Unity Platform (NUP) party.

Hon. Zaake has been instrumental in both Parliament and constituency work which will make him retain his seat easily and move onto the 12th Parliament.

He is an active contributor in the August house and very vocal on the floor of Parliament.

As part of his plans to develop constituency, Hon. Zaake started a Youth Project which has seen him give out around 1500 Motorbikes (Boda Bodas) to the youth at half price and loan. This has changed lives of the youths enabling them to develop themselves and their families. He has gone to donate them reflector jackets for easy traffic movements as well as over 2000 helmets to help while carrying their boda boda duties (Safety measure).

On agriculture, Hon. Zaake has donated seedlings to each of 140 villages for both commercial and home consumption agriculture production. This has boosted household income and food security in the area.

He has boosted it by donating free hoes or selling them at half price to the constituents. He has also donated wheelbarrows and water harvest machines to the farmers for easy production.

The youthful vocal MP has also donated 100 plates, 3 big saucepans and plastic chairs to each of the 140 villages to help people especially when they have functions. These ones can also be hired out to fetch more money for the people.

He has donated an ambulance which doubles as a mobile clinic to treat people who can not easily access health facilities. The ambulance has free medicine for all and can deliver severely sick to any major hospital.

He has been instrumental in boosting talent in sports. He has set up village and parish teams sponsoring the tournament between the teams. When Zaake and his father Butebi were part of Ssingo FC, things were going on well until they were unfairly kicked out. The team lost, a thing that shows how powerful the Butebi Camp is.

The MP has also been able to donate solar panels or sell them at half price to the villages that are lacking power.

Hon. Zaake Francis Butebi is always on the ground mobilizing support for his people in the need. He has supported churches, mosques, Schools and health centres both financially, physically and morally as well as working on feeder roads.

He has also set up a project in every division in the Municipality to boost income for his people.

Through his Zaake Foundation, he has provided employment to over 300 people.

He has also set up schools and hotels which have also provided employment opportunities to his people.

Speaking to this website, his father Mr. Emmanuel Ssembuusi Butebi said although they expect to be opposed, they have done excellent service for the people of Mityana Municipality and deserve to retain the seat.

He said many good things are coming to Mityana Municipality as long as Hon. Zaake Francis is still their Member of Parliament (MP).

“We have done a lot on the ground and we hope to retain the seat. We are optimistic that the people of Mityana Municipality are still with us and we will gladly offer more support as long as they give us the mandate,” Butebi added.
