2026 Updates: This is Part IX of individuals who are set to vy for MP seats in the 12th Parliament
As the 2026 general elections get closer and closer, we bring you a number of Individuals who have announced their plans to contest in the polls.
Gerald Agaba Katohire
He is set to contest for Isingiro West Constituency in Isingiro District. From his school days, Hon. Gerald has always been a person of politics. It is with no doubt that he wants to be in the 12th Parliament.
He wants to see better schools, lobby sub counties like Rwakwakwende supporting women and youths groups, mobilizing revolving funds for people who want to go abroad to look for jobs and many other needs for the people.
Ssebuggwawo George William aka Kalisa
He is set to contest for Kassanda North in Kassanda District. He is already on the ground mobilizing for support and getting set for the battle.
He holds a Bachelors Degree in education from Makerere University. He is a journalist and former Editor at The New Times (Rwanda), Seasoned analyst at Aljazeera The Stream. He is currently the Editor of The Light Magazine, CEO of Freedom Gardens at Kamuli in Kassanda District and is also the founder of Kamuli C/U Secondary School. He is Author with 6 titles including: The Woes of Umutoni, The Forbidden Question, The Sugar Coated Daddy, The Millenium CRE, CER EXAMS, Women in Captivity.
He is also former Correspondent with The New Vision (Uganda), EFE Agencia (Spain).
He is a multilingual and speaks Luganda, English, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Kirundi, Kifumbira, French and he is also the CEO of Ssebuggwawo Foundation. He says he is the only competent candidate for Kassanda North . He is married to Joyce Ssebuggwawo with five children.
Mushakamba Vicent
He is set to vie for Bufumbira South Constituency in Kisoro District. ‘For the change we deserve’ he says.
He subscribes to Forum Democratic Change (FDC) Katonga Faction.
Dr Adrian Dungu Niyimpa
He wants to contest for Bufumbira East Kisoro District and subscribes to Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) and is a member of the NRM.
Dr Adrian is a medical specialist and aims to foster massive social economic transformation with a modern and innovative approach to the problems affecting Kisoro.
He says Bufumbira East needs a change and he believes he is the right person to bring that change.
He is already doing the leg work and has well-established teams on the ground.
Okongo James
He is set to contest for West Budama Central in Tororo District. He says young blood matters a lot. He subscribes to the NRM party. Abino chowo dinyo mowin.
Nsubuga Sharif
This 29 year old hails from Nazigo Town Council Kayunga District. He is set to contest the 2026 Parliamentary seat for Ntenjeru South County on the National Unity Platform (NUP) Party ticket if given.
He contested in 2021 elections in NRM primaries where he claims he was cheated and stood a side then joined NUP 8/July 2021.
He is a Naturapatic scientist with a diploma from Nkozi University
He also holds a Bachelors Degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from Muteesa 1 Royal University and a certificate in Herbal Practice from Prometra Ug.
He is currently pursuing a degree in Law from Uganda Metropolitan University.
Sharif is also the Managing Director of Ssezibwa Herbal Uganda Ltd , a herbal processing company in Nazigo T/C which manufactures herbal products like Soap, Vaseline, Liquid soap, End Drinks and Body cleansers. He has been nicknamed Owa Nino Baby boy. He is already on the ground mobilizing for support.
Icega Isaac Andi
He is set to tussle it out for West Moyo County MP in Moyo District. He holds a certificate and diploma in Journalism and is an Administrative Law Certificate student.
He is presently the Station Manager Aulogo FM Adjumani. He says he is ready to challenge the incumbent Hon Alero Tom Aza.
Apono Morris
He is set to contest for Kole South Constituency on Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) ticket. He studied from UTC Lira.
Mbabazi Darius
He is set to contest for the MP Kikube Constituency in Kikube District, Bunyoro Region Western Uganda. He holds Bachelor of Public Health from Bishop Stuart University – Mbarara and he is the former Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister at the same university.
He did his O and A levels at St. Andrea Kahwaa’s College Hoima.
Onimo Joseph Ocen
He is planning on contesting for the MP Maruzi Constituency in Apac District. He is currently doing consultation in the area.
He is currently finalizing his Bachelor in Public Administration and Management at Gulu University.
Having led students as the faculty president faculty of Business and Development studies, and currently working in Prime Minister’s office as the 2nd Deputy Prime Minister for the University, he believes he will be able to represent the people of Maruzi Constituency well in the 12th Parliament 2026-2031.
