2026 Updates: Nebbi people want the new ‘Rich Gang’ to take over leadership as religion takes centre stage

Voters in Nebbi District in Northern Uganda have vowed never to vote for a not so rich leader who they say do not do more for the people because they first develop themselves.

Speaking to this website, voters have put their support for 2026 to the new rich crew of Mr. Olyeko Denis Oryema and State Minister for Energy Hon. Nyamutoro Phiona.

While Olyeko is contesting for Padyere County, Hon. Nyamutoro Phiona is running for Nebbi District Woman MP seat.

These two have showed their capability of driving Nebbi forward in terms of development.

They have the money to push forward development projects in case the government delays because of the love they have for their people.

Hon. Phiona and Olyeko have been on the ground mobilizing for support as well as supporting developmental activities especially with Olyeko being much involved in supporting the church, education , health and transport in the area. He has been up there for the church in building and supporting all their activities.

In Phiona Nyamutoro, the Nebbi people do not want to lose the only Minister they have had for the last many years and this gives her an added advantage in the race.

With Olyeko, the only Catholic in the race for Padyere County, there will be a religious battle between him and other religions especially Protestants who have fielded five candidates in the NRM primaries and Muslim who have the current MP and he is contesting again.

Padyere County and the entire district of Nebbi is the stronghold of the ruling NRM party and once you win in primaries, you rest assured of the seat in the next Parliament.
