2026 Updates: Jim Muhwezi applauds his supporters of Rujumbura Constituency for trusting him again with NRM flag

Rujumbura Constituency MP, NRM flag bearer for 2026 who also doubles as the Security Minister Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the people of Rujumbura Constituency in Rukungiri District for trust him again to represent them in the 12th Parliament.

He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to campaign agents, coordinators, and planners for their commendable efforts after last month’s NRM primaries. He also called on all NRM supporters across the country to prepare deligently for next year’s General elections.

“We conducted a campaign that exemplified the NRM’s core principle of unity in diversity.

It is important to note that some of my competitors did not adhere to the fundamental requirements of our Party and Constitution. Regrettably, their campaigns were marred by unlawful actions, including but not limited to identity politics, intimidation, and voter bribery.

I want to reiterate my previous sentiments: NRM Primary elections are an internal party process meant to unite, not divide, members. After a democratic vote, all must support the chosen candidate. Concerns about election integrity should be addressed through legal channels, such as petitions to the NRM Electoral Commission, as outlined in Article 23(4) of the NRM Constitution. Once again, I extend my gratitude for the support you have shown me, and I assure you that I will spare no effort in delivering development to Rujumbura. Lastly, to the NRM supporters, Let us prepare diligently for the upcoming general elections,” Hon Maj Gen Jim Katugugu Muhwezi.
