Latest opinion polls from Kawempe 1 Parish show that Ms Balunga Mariam is in the lead for the post of LC 3 Woman Councillor for Kawempe 1 Parish heading into the 2026 General Elections.

The poll put the beautiful Hon. Balunga Mariam to win with 57% against her closest rival Ms Nabuguzi Rose at 25% with Ms Nakitto Sarah and Ms Lekuru Liberty way down at 11% and 7% respectively. She is seen as the perfect leader to uplift things in Kawempe 1 Parish. Together with her team, Mariam is seriously on the ground mobilizing for support

Balunga Mariam is a name that continues to echo strongly across Kawempe Division. A known powerhouse in youth mobilization, Mariam made her mark during the recent youth elections, where she successfully mobilized over 1,000 NUP youth candidates. She not only encouraged and sensitized them about their roles and responsibilities but also nurtured their political awareness. Though the victory of the youth elections was unjustly snatched away, one thing remains clear—Kawempe’s youth still firmly believe in Mariam’s leadership and vision.

This unwavering confidence is one of the driving reasons Mariam took a bold and timely step: standing as LC3 Woman Councillor for Kawempe I Parish, the community that raised her.

As she traverses the villages that make up Kawempe I—Mbogo, Kalule, Ketifalawo, Kisowera, Kakungulu, Kirokole, & Kizza—the welcome has been warm, and the reception heartfelt. Residents are increasingly voicing their frustration with leaders who disappear after elections. “We want leaders who walk with us, not just during campaigns but through every season. Balunga Mariam is that kind of leader,” shared a resident of Kawempe Mbogo.

This is a generation that seeks fresh energy, new ideas, and leaders who understand the pulse of the people. Mariam represents that new dawn—one not tied down by decades of political fatigue, but inspired by purpose and people.

“We are tired of being led by those who overstay in power. We need leaders who serve genuinely and then allow the next generation to rise. Let’s give this young woman a chance,” echoed another voice in Kalule Zone.

Balunga Mariam is not just contesting—she’s igniting a movement for accountability, inclusivity, and youth-led transformation. Her passion for empowering young girls, women, and single mothers is deeply rooted in her own lived experiences and years of selfless community service. This is more than politics—it is purpose.

Kawempe I, the time is now. Let’s choose leadership that listens. Let’s choose Balunga Mariam.
