What you need to know about actress/ singer Ruth Kurt
Abwalo Ruth Emegu popularly known by her stage name Ruth Kurt is a Ugandan actress, producer, writer and singer born in Moroto district on the 07th October 1985 and raised in Kampala.
She is an Itesot from Serere district. A daughter to Police Commissioner Mr. Ariko David Emegu and the late Mrs. Achayo Margaret. She is the first daughter out of five (5) children. A mother of two (2) daughters, businesswoman and a humanitarian with Sacred Home for the Rural Girl child and the Aged people (SHRUGA).
She went to St. Theresa Nursery School – Moroto, Municipal Primary School – Moroto, Kangole Girls Primary School-Karamoja and Police Children School- Kibuli where she finished her primary level education. Tororo Girls’ School for O’level and Seeta High School for A ‘level.
She then joined Nkumba University where she graduated with Bachelors Degree in Office Management and Secretarial Studies and also holds a Certificate in Counseling.
She has also explored into music given her musical talent (renowned in the northern Uganda) that also earned her a nomination in the 2010 Diva awards in the category of best northern artist.
In 2020, she won an award as the best female actress in Pearl Wood awards.
She started her acting career with The Ebonies in 2002 and has so far featured in over 30 films that include:
