All is set for voting to elect the District Woman Representative to Parliament for Kaabong District today, Thursday, 26th September 2019.

Two (02) candidates are contesting for the position of District Woman Representative to Parliament, namely, Adyaka Judith Nalibe (FDC) and Tubo Christine Nakwang (NRM).

Voters will also elect chairpersons and councillors to fill vacancies existing in various Local Government Councils in Kaabong District.

The dispatch of the polling kits to respective polling stations commenced at 4:00am.

Voting shall be by universal adult suffrage, and shall take place at all the one hundred and thirty (130) polling stations in the District, beginning at 7:00am and ending at 4:00pm.

Thereafter, counting of votes and announcing of results by the respective Presiding Officer shall take place.

A total number of forty thousand two hundred and forty eight (40,248) voters were registered for this by-election.

The vacancy of the District Woman Representative to Parliament for Kaabong District occurred on 1st July 2019, following the preference and decision by the former Woman Representative for Kaabong to represent the newly-created district Karenga, which was curved out of Kaabong.

In related development, the by elections for Hoima District Woman MP also takes place today.
