Uganda Breweries releases “Red Card” song against Drunk Driving
Kampala: Uganda Breweries Limited has today unveiled a responsible drinking song called Red Card that is aimed at reminding alcohol consumers and music lovers to shun drink driving, an irresponsible act that could cause harm to their lives.
Sung by the Red Card Ambassador, Vinka, the dancehall tune that was produced and written by Swangz Avenue carries a message declaring that it is okay to have fun and celebrate life by consuming alcohol as long as the consumer makes responsible drinking decisions.
Speaking during the launch of the song at one of Kampala’s happening places, Amnesia Club, Uganda Breweries Corporate Relations Manager David Onyango said, “Music and alcohol are part of every celebration. As Uganda Breweries Limited, we are using the music platform to amplify our responsible drinking message and reach our consumers in their favorite hangout spots where the consumption happens. We believe that responsible drinking can be part of a balanced lifestyle and we encourage you all to enjoy our products safely.”
Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) under their 7-year old Red Card Initiative, has since December 2018 been running a responsible drinking campaign that is aimed at engaging consumers to make a commitment to never drink and drive, in a bid to reduce drink driving incidents in Uganda.
The campaign dubbed “Join the Pact to never drink and drive” is targeting to collect 10,000 commitments over a period of 6 months.
Earlier this month, the brewery also unveiled award winning television personality, Calvin Kalule popularly known by his showbiz name, Calvin the Entertainer as a responsible drinking ambassador as part of Join the Pact campaign. He joins Vinka and Innocent Nahabwe who have spearheaded the campaign since December 2018.
