The fight against HIV/AIDS in Uganda has taken on a new, dynamic form with the official launch of the Uganda AIDS Marathon 2026, held at the prestigious Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort on Tuesday, 24th February 2026.
The event, themed “Run for Hope, Act for Life”, brought together leaders, advocates, and partners committed to strengthening awareness and action against HIV/AIDS.
Dr. Nelson Musoba, Director General of the Uganda AIDS Commission, presided over the ceremony and Ms. Maery Mungati, Chief Executive Officer of Village Journeys Africa, co-hosted the event, highlighting the importance of community-driven initiatives in tackling the epidemic.

Their collaboration underscores the growing synergy between government institutions and private organizations in mobilizing Ugandans toward health advocacy and collective responsibility.
Distinguished guests, including policymakers, health professionals, and civil society representatives, attended to pledge their support.
The symbolic red AIDS awareness ribbon and torch emblem featured prominently, representing resilience, hope, and the enduring fight against HIV/AIDS.

The Uganda AIDS Marathon is more than a sporting event—it is a national campaign for awareness, prevention, and solidarity. By engaging athletes, communities, and international partners, the marathon aims to promote HIV testing and counseling, encourage healthy lifestyles and stigma reduction, easy funds for community-based HIV/AIDS programs.
The 2026 edition promises to be one of the largest health advocacy events in Uganda, blending sports with social impact.
With Munyonyo as the launch venue, the marathon is expected to attract both local and international participants, amplifying Uganda’s voice in the global fight against HIV/AIDS.
