Tooro Crowns Miss Tourism Queens Amid Sorrow
It was a beehive of activities as the Tooro region held its Miss Tourism auditions on a Saturday night at Mountains of the Moon Hotel in Fort Portal.
At the stroke of midnight, Mrikatete Michelle was crowned Miss Tourism Tooro after beating other contestants.
From the onset, Mrikatete Michelle was the clear favorite. Her poise, confidence, knowledge of Tooro culture, and general knowledge of the tourism sector stood above the rest.
Some of the guests in attendance, many of whom were expatriates, felt Tooro may have been a clear contender for the coveted Miss Tourism crown at the grand finale. Karungi Cynthia and Nyagoma King were first and second runner-up respectively.
The three will make it to the boot camp and compete with winners from other regions like Karamoja, Rwenzori, and West Nile, among others. Crowd favorite.
The crowned tourism ambassadors were urged to take it upon themselves to promote tourism under the new campaign dubbed “Greening Tourism”.
