

The Zuri Awards: 2018 Winners unveiled at annual gala dinner held at Villa Rosa Kempinski
Kenya’s most inspiring event, Zuri Awards, unveiled the winners for this year’s awards during the gala dinner held at Villa Rosa Kempinski last Friday. The awards that seek to recognize and fete exceptional women and organisations doing outstanding work in their communities.

Guest speaker Siddharth Chaterjee, United Nations Resident Coordinator (UNRC) & UNDP Resident Representative to Kenya said, “Congratulations to Zuri Awards for this great initiative, I want to see more women coming into these spaces ,rise up and shine since you are the ones who will take this continent forward.”

“As founders of the Zuri Awards we are so glad and excited that an idea that started last year is growing in bounds! We are now able to celebrate more Kenyan women and organizations each year who have not been recognized before, yet they are doing amazing work in our communities.” The director at Go Gaga Experiential Norah Mumo said. “We hope that this recognition will spur the women to soar to greater heights.” She adds.

This year’s awards were judged by various jurors who included Dinah Musindarwezo – Executive Director, Femnet. Derek Bbanga – Strategic Communications Specialists – MD Public Image , Evelyn Chibole – Creative Designer and Entrepreneur, Rev. Dr. Julius Weche Founder and CEO Akad Education Group- Africa, Faith Oneya –Journalist, Barbara Akello – Communication Strategist, Faith Mutwiri, Paul Mugambi – CEO Kytabu, Faith Mutwiri – Quality Analyst & GM Transken-Limited and Jenniffer Muindi .

Some of the guests included Zebib Kavuma, Country Director UN Women, and Winfred Buya Mukonzo, Founder Empower Her among others. The awards were curated by Go Gaga Experiential Ltd and have been sponsored by Barclays Bank of Kenya, Safaricom, Couture Africa Magazine and Sochin Agency.
Established in 2017, Zuri Awards is an annual celebration of women and organizations that are bringing change through their work in their community. The awards are the brainchild of Go Gaga Experiential Ltd in partnership with Barclays Bank of Kenya, Couture Africa Magazine and Sochin Agency. They continue to create a platform that recognizes individuals making an impact in regards to women and girls in their communities.
