Kampala: A powerful new convening of CSO, CBOs, private sector innovators, civil society, and youth advocates has officially launched REPower Uganda, a landmark initiative designed to unify the nation’s renewable energy advocacy and dismantle barriers to clean energy access.
The launch took place during an intensive five-day multi-stakeholder workshop from the 20th – 24th of April 2026, serving as a cocktail of strategic planning and alliance building.
The event brought together CSOs, CBOs, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, the Ministry of Water and Environment and the media to move beyond fragmented efforts and establish a singular, powerful voice for Uganda’s clean energy future.
A Unified Front for Energy Transformation
REPower Uganda arrives at a critical juncture as the nation seeks to balance rapid economic growth with climate resilience. The workshop focused on four strategic pillars:
Sector Integration: Merging the influence of high-level policymakers with the lived
experience of grassroots organizers.
Gap Analysis: Mapping the current landscape to identify technical and regulatory
bottlenecks that stall renewable projects..
Alliance Building: Creating a permanent, committed partnership with strong and allied
working groups.
Tactical Roadmap: Developing an intervention plan with specific milestones for
legislative and community-level impact.
