PSFU pledges full support for women in film

Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) has confirmed that under their GROW project, they will support Ugandan women doing film.

This was confirmed last Friday at the Business Summit for Women in Business held at National Theater.

The support was announced by Hon Victoria Ssekitoleko, the former Minister of Agriculture and also a Board Member of PSFU.

According to Hon Ssekitoleko, only organized Women who under an Association or Federation will receive the support because it is easier to help an organized group rather than an individual.

She went on to say that she will help creative access any Government offices that they need support from in order to see film makers achieving their goals The Summit was under the theme Empowering Our Creativity through Financial Literacy.

Mrs Edna Rebbecca from Kuonyesha Art Fund said that they have always support Film makers in Uganda and this time round, they are ready to support women in Film.

“We always give support to film makers, it doesn’t matter if it is your first film, whether you are a professional film maker but rather, we are always looking at funding a passionate film maker” Edna said.

The GROW project was launched by Private Sector Foundation Uganda in January and it aimed at supporting Women Entrepreneurs to grow their businesses from one stage to another.

The project will target 135 districts in Uganda and with the World Bank Funding of USD217 million, the project will go on until December 2027.
