The Deputy Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa represented H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at the Memorial service of the late Cedric Babu Ndilima held at Rubaga Cathedral yesterday morning. On behalf of the President, and in his own capacity, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa extended his deepest condolences to Captain Francis Babu and the entire family over the untimely death of Cedric Babu.

The President noted that he has worked with both of Cedric’s parents in building this nation and raising a generation prepared to take on the mantle of leadership. Cedric’s passing, he said, is especially painful because of what he represented for the future.
He added that the nation has lost a sports gem whose talent and contributions will be remembered for years to come.

The President also highlighted Cedric’s impactful work at UBC, his involvement in politics, and his exceptional ability to mobilise people—qualities that reflected a promising, emerging leader.
“In these difficult times, I thank all friends and well-wishers who have stood with the Babu family. May Cedric’s soul rest in eternal peace”.

At the time of his death, the family was fundraising for UGX 1.5bn for heart transplant.
Cedric will be laid to rest today at his ancestral burial grounds in Mpigi District. May his soul RIP.
