Police Arrests G4S Security Guards For Robbing A Billion Shillings They Were Moving

ASP Luke Oweyesigire confirmed the arrests

Two security guards belonging to G4S Security Company have been implicated for robbing about 1 billion shillings that they were transporting. ASP Luke Owoyesigire the Spokesperson of Kampala Metropolitan Police confirmed the incident saying that the two conspired to rob the van which was placed under their guard.

According to information, the incident happened on the 19th of November 2024 on a bullion van, number UAJ 199T which had an occasional route from Lubowa to Nakasero. This same van was recovered by Police dumped in Nabunya found in Rubaga Division with two rifles left behind.

“The stolen cash amounted to One Billion, Sixty-Nine Million, Four Hundred and Twenty Thousand Ugandan Shillings (UGX 1,069,420,000) and USD 14,474,” noted ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police.

As soon as the incident was reported, investigations were commenced by Police to pin the culprits. One of them identified as Otim Ambrose Richard was found in Kwania District where he was arrested. He’s said to have been in possession of about Shs 117m believed to be a portion of the stolen money.

“Investigations are ongoing, and more details will be shared as soon as they are available,” ASP Owoyesigyire confirmed. “We are committed to recovering the remaining money and bringing all culprits to justice.”

Police has now stepped up investigations to arrest the remaining thugs and also recover the remainder of the money.
